Where this is

Two hours from Cabo. Eight miles from an island.

La Ventana sits on a bay east of La Paz on the Sea of Cortez side of Baja California Sur. Three neighborhoods, one paved road, Cerralvo Island visible from every kite launch. That island is what creates the wind.

Behind Rent La Ventana

Born in Venezuela, coached executives for sixteen years out of Miami and San Diego, found La Ventana on a kite trip in 2014 and never quite left. I started Rent La Ventana to run the kind of property management I'd want as an owner and as a guest. Hand-picked houses. Real replies on WhatsApp, usually within a day.

Why La Ventana

Made for adventure, year-round.

Wind from October through May. Big whales in winter, orcas through the summer. Mobula aggregations in early summer that you can swim through. Yellowtail, roosterfish, dorado, marlin, tuna across the rotating warm months. Sierra de la Laguna trails when it's cool. Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez "the world's aquarium."

Sea

Orcas in La Ventana, explained.

Fewer than two hundred orcas in the whole Sea of Cortez. The Moctezuma pod hunts whale sharks. What the season looks like, what the new 2025-26 rules say, and who to book with.

Wind

Kiting in La Ventana, explained.

Why the wind is so good here, what the season actually looks like, the seven main launches from La Tuna to South Beach, and a few practical things nobody tells you in the magazine spreads.

Town

Where to eat in El Sargento, ranked.

Three places worth the dust on the road. One that's been around since the eighties. The taco truck that closes when the wind kicks up. Honest list, no kickbacks.

For owners

If you own a house you don't live in.

La Ventana property management falls into two camps. Amateurs treating it like a side-hustle. Platforms treating your house like inventory.

We curate a growing catalog of long-term rentals on this coast. Every house personally vetted, every house one we'd live in ourselves. Real commission, transparent on day one. Tenant vetting in English and Spanish. Owner statements paid through Wise. Off-season caretaking so the salt doesn't eat the house.
